Islington estate agents, Thomson Currie

about us

Estate Agents in Islington since 1986...

Profile

Thomson Currie estate agents opened its first London office in Islington in 1986, although the company actually dates back to the previous century. Based on Upper Street, our Islington office occupies a prominent position on the corner of Gaskin Street. In autumn 1999 we became the first Islington estate agents to open a Clerkenwell office. Building on our proactive reputation and high quality marketing, our Clerkenwell office has rapidly established a leading position within the local property market.

Thomson Currie is committed to providing a personal service to each of our clients and maintains the highest standards in every aspect of our business. Whether vendor, landlord, tenant or purchaser, you will find Thomson Currie's highly driven attitude and approach to estate agency a refreshing change.

Marketing

The Internet

Everyone knows the importance of the Internet in modern day estate agency and no one more so than Thomson Currie. We were the first local estate agents to develop a website and since then we have constantly strived to keep it visually stimulating, informative and easy to use. Unlike many of our competitors we always keep the site up to date so users can be sure of what is actually available. Why not take a look at it now: www.thomsoncurrie.co.uk .

Over half our sales or rental enquiries come through our website and over 75% of our applicants request to be updated via e-mail. With technologically integrated offices we are able to quickly cross-refer applicants with properties so every sales or rental opportunity is exploited.

Property Portals

To make the most of our website we use a host portal www.primelocation.com which produces a consistent and growing flow of very strong enquiries and an increasing recognition of the website amongst prospective buyers and tenants. This site is owned by over 250 of the country's leading estate agents, letting agents and property management companies. Because of the volume and quality of properties it attracts, it has become the first choice for those searching for estate agents providing the finest homes in the most sought after areas. In addition we market our properties through www.homesandproperty.co.uk , the Evening Standards, Daily and Sunday Mails' website. We are also listed on www.estateangels.co.uk , www.Fish4homes.co.uk and www.vebra.com each of which has its own target market.

Public Relations & Marketing

We are one of the few independent estate agents who treat PR and Marketing with the importance most would accept it deserves. We have an in-house press agent dedicated to gaining Thomson Currie's clients as much high profile exposure in the national, local and specialist property press, as is available. Excellent press relations with leading property journalists bring featured articles on your home or neighbourhood which, in turn, provide highly focused enquiries that are the best leads possible. For example, features such as 'Buy of the Week' in the Evening Standard bring about as many as 100 leads, and in many cases result in a sale. Individual campaigns are tailored to maximise your home's selling potential. If you have an interesting angle that could be exploited in the press (for example the history of the house or a famous previous owner), let us know and your home will soon be capturing the imagination of buyers.

Advertisements

We advertise in an ever-evolving range of publications from specialist property papers and City lifestyle magazines to the regional and national quality press using professionally designed adverts that create the right impression of your home. We are constantly monitoring which publications generate the most enquiries and affect our strategy in line with this.

Sales Particulars

We take great care to produce well-written, informative and accurate particulars. For all our instructions we employ a professional photographer who is adept at enhancing the presentation of our properties and creating the best possible image of your home. Professional photography guarantees immaculate particulars and superior reproductions in advertisements, PR material and on the Internet. For appropriate instructions we produce accurate floor plans. Floor plans are an integral part of sales particulars, especially in today's market with so many people reliant on the Internet. It stands to reason that the better the information you provide, the more likely the viewing applicant will be suitable for your home.

Presentation of sales particulars is regarded of paramount importance as it often provides the first impression of an instruction and/or the estate agents.

The People

Thomson Currie estate agents boasts very experienced and established sales and lettings teams, many of whom live in the surrounding area and thus have considerable local knowledge. Between our two offices we have 13 sales and letting negotiators who cross-market every property through both offices. This ensures that every prospect/opportunity is explored. With such a strong team we can be sure we were doing everything possible to secure the best outcome for our clients.

Unique Selling Points

Dual Office Marketing

Thomson Currie clients benefit from two local estate agents offices working on their behalf, yet for a standard fee. Each member of staff benefits from equal incentives to sell/let instructions from the other office. Put simply this system should lead to twice as much exposure, resulting in twice as many enquiries and ultimately viewings, doubling the offers and therefore creating the opportunity to attain the highest achievable price in the fastest possible time. The majority of passing custom in Clerkenwell is affluent City workers while the Islington office has a huge volume of passing trade.

No Restrictive Terms of Engagement

By choosing Thomson Currie estate agents you will not be tied into a minimum term of instruction/contract (typically a punitive eight to twelve weeks). We deem this to be a restrictive practice enforced as security against dissatisfactory customer service. We believe in what we offer our clients; ask yourself if other estate agents forcing you into a contract do.

Feedback

We make a record of every viewing and the applicants response to the property. This can be communicated to the client on a regular prearranged basis and provides an excellent means of monitoring activity, understanding the needs of the purchaser/tenant and deducing appropriate pricing/marketing strategy.

Watchdog

We are members of the Estate Agents Ombudsman Scheme. Their role is to promote the highest standards of service among estate agents, and protect both buyers and sellers from unscrupulous or dishonest activity. Although you are highly unlikely to require their services - if an estate agents sells/lets your property - without this membership, you will have limited recourse.

Saturday

Both our offices are open on Saturday. From 10am - 4pm in Islington and from 10am - 1pm in Clerkenwell. Saturday is an invaluable activity period in bustling Islington and increasingly so in Clerkenwell.

Progression

As soon as you have decided to sell your home, it is advisable to instruct a solicitor (we will be happy to recommend one) who should arrange to obtain a copy of your Title Deeds. Taking care of this process before selling saves much time once a sale has been agreed (requested Deeds can take a couple of weeks to arrive and many solicitors will not send out a contract until they've seen them). Once a sale is agreed, Thomson Currie estate agents more than earn their fee. We pride ourselves on our firm control of the selling process, setting purchasers deadlines for carrying out surveys and arranging for searches etc. Our aim, vendor willing (which we make clear to all parties) is for an exchange of contracts to take place within 28 days of receipt of contract whether the applicant be a cash buyer or in a chain.
